Compliments and Complaints

Compliment and complaint separation
EC does allow for complaints to be posted by the user for all business, product and public profiles. A significant difference between EC and others is that the complaints are separated from the compliments. To post a complaint, a user needs to hit the complaint button and make their post.

Complaints
All business, product and public profiles have a complaint option for users that the profile owner cannot disable. The only kind of profile that does not have a complaint button is the individual person.

Complaint removal
The owner of the profile may respond with comments to any complaint posted, but they cannot remove a complaint. The only way a complaint may be removed is for the profile owner to petition EC. The only circumstance in which EC will respond to a request and remove a complaint is if the complaint is in clear violation of EC’s terms and conditions.

Anonymous complaints

Only Registered Users may post an anonymous complaint. This protects profiles from unregistered anonymous drive by bomb throwers.

Responding to users posting a complaint
The profile owner may respond publicly to any complaint by posting a comment to the complaint that will be seen directly below the posted complaint. If the user does not wish to be anonymous, then the profile owner can simply click on the profile box next to the complaint and will be taken to the profile of the dissatisfied user.

The profile owner may want to respond directly and confidentially to the user posting the complaint to make amends and remedy the dissatisfaction.

The profile owner can respond to anonymous complaints; however, they won’t ever receive the anonymous poster’s name or contact information. All messages will be sent through the EC messaging system that fully protects the anonymity of those wishing to be anonymous.

Time limits
A user is not able to post more than one compliment or complaint to any single profile more than once per day. A user can post unlimited compliments each day but not more than one per profile.

What is the highest compliment a Complimentee can receive?
The ultimate compliment a Complimentee can receive on eCompliments is comprised of three parts: (1) a 5 star rating, (2) a “Yes” recommendation, and (3) a written compliment for the Complimentee.

Can I compliment the same thing over and over?
Yes, you may compliment the same profile multiple times; however, you can’t post a comment to the same profile more than once each day.

Professional complainers not welcome
This site is about sharing the good. There are hundreds of other sites whose focus is on sharing the bad. If you are sabotaging the site by only or primarily posting complaints, then you are in jeopardy of having user privileges revoked.

Can compliments (positive or negative) be removed from a profile?

  • Negative compliments that comply with our Site Use Agreement are almost impossible to have removed.
  • Either the poster or the profile owner may remove positive compliments.
  • The only compliments that can be removed are those that blatantly violate our Service Use Agreement.

Can a business have negative compliments removed by upgrading or buying advertising?
Absolutely not. Whether or not a business upgrades to an eProfessional membership or purchases advertising has no bearing on the content of the compliments (positive or negative) that are contained on their profile.  Negative compliments that comply with our Site Use Agreement are almost impossible to have removed.

Can ePro members suppress negative compliments?
NO. Since eCompliments is designed to have compliments on one page and complaints on a different page, this isn’t even a possibility.  Professional members do have the option of highlighting their favorite compliment to appear at the top of their compliment page, but this has no effect on their complaint page.
