A few months ago, the OC bloggers met up at the Veggie Grill. Many of us were not yet familiar with this restaurant. However, I was eager to try something more “healthy” vs. the usual hamburger joint. I was a bit weary to sample “fake chicken” or rather, the soy version. However, I wanted to try a plate to ensure I wasn’t missing out on anything. Luckily I did, as the ALL HAIL KALE was delicious! I wanted a calcium boost, which Kale provides, but is usually a little difficult on the taste buds. They marinated the kale and red cabbage in a ginger-papaya vinaigrette. Although it appeared oily, it was perfectly moist. Add the roasted walnuts and salsa, it made the dish quite good. Surprisingly, the faux blackened chickin’ was a good protein substitute! The salad serving size was huge and I took some home to my hubby. Again, at first, it appeared too healthy of a dish, but he gobbled it up quick and said “That, was pretty good!”

We look forward to our next Veggie Grill visit and sampling other entrees.
